Supporting Constructions

Materials: concrete, mirrors, projection

My exam work is the result of my investigations into concrete as a material. During the process I have been thinking about concrete as a formable kind of stone. A mountain is made into powder which is mixed with water used to build new mountains in the cities. Supporting Constructions is an attempt to visualize this transformation of the material’s form and value. In this work the concrete has taken the shape of the roots of a tree. The roots grow both in and out of the walls of Pannrummet and projected on them is a film of rocks being blasted. The destruction of the rocks brings the roots to life.
