A self-portray shot with an old cellphone, a “digital diary”, dealing with love, memories, time and space.

Biography of the director

Maximilien Acuña is a filmmaker and film editor, born in Montevideo (Uruguay) and raised in Milan (Italy). He holds a MFA in Film, from HDK-Valand Academy of Arts and Design in Gothenburg (Sweden). Max’ work revolves around themes such as loneliness, alienation and incommunicability versus closeness, love, and connection.

 

Artist Statement

Maximilien Acuña deals with themes such as loneliness, alienation and incommunicability versus closeness, love, and connection. During his research, Maximilien Acuña has been exploring how to create a closeness between his subjects, himself, and his audience – in and through the images he puts forward. In his search for a language, he created multiple short films at a high pace. He developed a highly personal, dreamy, and poetic film language, all shot with an old digital phone. Which he describes as ‘digital diaries’.
