The project explores self-assembling as an activity that can encourage and elevate people’s self-esteem when it comes to craft and construction skills. The self-assembled furniture comes with a manual with detailed and exact instructions for the consumer to follow. An activity that some people like, and some get frustrated from.
The process has been experimenting with the design of the construction-set and its possibilities to function as self-instructing and with multiple end results. The aim is to create a positive experience through independency and creativity. The building-kit consists of different wooden pieces that can be assembled and disassembled in different ways. The project results in several workshops where the participant has been instructed to build and create in their own way.
